Stop 03 · Midland

A Georgian Bay grocery route, through Midland.

Midland is the heart of the route — where Highway 12 meets the bay, where the road bends west toward the ferry. The truck is here twice a week with fresh produce, pantry essentials, and whatever specialty items you wrote on your list this morning.

Brian's notes · Midland

Where the road bends toward the bay.

The route through Midland is a mix of harbour-front bungalows, hospital-area families, and Tay Township properties heading out toward Wyebridge. I know the streets that get plowed late in January and the houses where the dog needs a heads-up before the truck pulls in.

Midland is also the last big mainland stop before Penetanguishene and the Cedar Point ferry over to Christian Island, which means the truck rolls through here with everything still cold from the Barrie morning load. Produce from the Ontario Food Terminal in Toronto and Barrie Hill Farms — picked fresh, packed in coolers, delivered the same day.

Send your list by Sunday 3 pm for Tuesday delivery, or Wednesday 3 pm for Friday. Standing weekly orders are welcome and most Midland customers are on one — call 1-705-970-5141 or email briansfoodbaskets@rogers.com to get on the route.
